Thomas Turgoose is a Grimbarian actor best known for his role as Shaun in Shane Meadows’ gritty British film ‘This is England’ and the subsequent spin off mini-series made by Channel 4. He’s also a big Mariners fan and has been a regular at Blundell Park since 2007.
Thomas began supporting Town when he moved in with his dad at the age of 14. His dad, Robert Eggleston, has been going to games since the 70s and making the pilgrimage to Blundell Park was pretty much the first thing he made Tomo do when he moved in with him! Although he can’t remember who his first Mariners game was against, he does vividly remember sitting with his late grandma Marie Eggleston, who had a season ticket most of her life. Thomas always used to sit in the Pontoon when he was younger and he was in the Ponny when Town lost their Football League status in 2010 and won it back in 2016. Nowadays though, he tends to sit in the Upper Findus next to his old man.
Even though his job has literally taken him all over the world, Tomo has always managed to make it to games whenever he’s back in town and this season has been particularly special to him because of the positive energy around the club because of the takeover. That’s why he lists the wins against Barnet (4-3) and Dover Athletic (6-0) among his favourites ever at Blundell Park.
Thomas is already a friend of the stars, but he classes the time he met his favourite player Craig Disley as the only time he genuinely felt star struck. After being asked to play in Craig Disley’s Benefit game in 2017, Tomo now has the pleasure of being able to call the former Town skipper a friend, along with current Town players James McKeown and Shaun Pearson.
If Tomo isn’t working on his next film or TV project, the chances are he’ll be up in the Upper Findus this afternoon, along with his dad.
