If you’ve ever travelled on a coach to watch the Mariners, you’ll probably know Terry Hall. He’s been going to away games on the supporters’ coach since 1993 and is responsible for running the away travel club for the last 15 years.
Over the years Terry, along with the other regulars on the supporters’ coach, have helped thousands of Mariners fans attend games all over the country. It’s his job to take bookings and organise the coaches for each game, and on big occasions like the trips to Wembley, the Millennium Stadium, Liverpool, Arsenal and more recently, Chelsea, he’s also put on multiple coaches.
He’s been on well over 500 trips but his most memorable was the game against Wolves in 2002 when Town supporters on the bus were given a police escort at a very fast pace through the streets of Wolverhampton!
Terry has been coming to Blundell Park since 1958 and he remembers his first game being a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool. His favourite game was the 7-1 demolition of Scunthorpe United in 1966 and his favourite player was Paul Futcher (with Joe Waters not too far behind). He’s had his seat in the Pontoon since it was made all-seater in 1995. Before that, he enjoyed standing on the terrace and being a part of the stand that used to suck the ball into the back of the net.
Terry loves going to away games on the supporters’ coach just as much as going to Blundell Park, and he puts that down to all the great people he gets to experience the highs and lows of following the Mariners with.
