You will probably recognise Anne Boyers as the lady who walks around Blundell Park on a matchday taking photos. Whatever the weather, she will be there to capture moments in the stands, while her GTFC Media colleagues concentrate on what happens on the pitch.
Anne began with the Mariners in 2008 as a teacher in the club’s Study Support Centre. In her role she was able to combine her passion for inspirational learning with her love for the club. Although it came to an end in 2011, she wasn’t able to walk away from the place she loved so much and soon found another calling – fan photography.
Believe it or not, Anne has been coming to Blundell Park for more than 50 years and she first started going with her reluctant brother, Glenn in the early 70s. Her favourite game was the rearranged game against Exeter City in 1972 – the evening McMenemy’s team claimed the Fourth Division title in front of a crowd of over 22,000. She remembers seeing fans hanging from the floodlights and sitting on the roof of the Main Stand from her spot on the Harrington Street open corner.
Anne remembers catching the 3F bus on matchdays in the mid 70s and sitting upstairs with Tony Ford and Dave Moore. The two young Mariners would often chat about the up-coming game and Anne would try and listen to what they were saying.
Over the last decade, Anne’s taken thousands of photos of supporters at games and created snapshots in time for us all to cherish. So, we thought it was only fair to turn the camera on Anne for this project, just this once.
