About Grimbarians

#wearegrim

Grimbarians is more than a not-for-profit organisation. It is a creative movement, born to change the storyline of the town and the way people identify the area.

Through documenting and showcasing the lives of local people, we aim to promote confidence in the area, increase pride and build a stronger, more positive reputation for Great Grimsby because #GrimsbyReallyIsMore

Award Winning!

Grimbarians C.I.C. was proud to win the "Excellence in the Community" award at the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards 2022.

We pride ourselves on promoting the good of Great Grimsby and all of the amazing things that happen right here. To be rewarded for our work and dedication was very special to us. Whilst recognition for ourselves isn't why we do it, it certainly helps to spread our work even more.

The Grimbarians Team

As a C.I.C. we have brought together a small team of Directors that help to advise and guide us in the right direction. Our directors have influence over how we work as a company and ensure that we stick to the aims we have set out in our articles.

The WHY of Grimbarians

“There are so many dedicated people doing positive things in and around Grimsby and working hard to make it an even greater place. These people are often unheard and go unnoticed. I want to showcase them and the great work that they’re doing so that everyone knows about them”, Dan says.

“If we can just change a few peoples’ perceptions of the town and the people who call it their home, then we are on the way to making a difference.”

Dan and Lindsay started Grimbarians back in early 2018 as an online photo-documentary project to share the lives of those inspiring change. There is a real need for the town to focus on the wave of positivity that is growing day to day, and to recognise the countless fascinating people that are at the heart of this movement.

Lindsay added: “What I love most about this project is being able to hear about the lives of the Grimbarians and seeing just how much impact they have on other peoples’ lives, sometimes they just don’t realise it.”

With the community’s support, we want to change the narrative of the town and shout about the good things happening right now.Since its inception, Grimbarians has become a C.I.C, featured over 50 motivational local people, commissioned local creatives, launched a good news only newspaper, and welcomed the wider community to exhibitions and inspiring talks.

Why? Because we want to ensure the people making changes, no matter how small, are recognised, to ensure the future history of documented, to boost hometown pride, to show that #grimsbyreallyismore
