The Grimbarians Studio was created to be a space that is affordable and friendly for creatives to come together and work on projects together.
For too long Grimsby has had a lack of provision for creatives of all kinds, so we decided to step up and create such a place ourselves.
Situated on Grimsby's famous historic docks, our studio is perfectly placed to help us provide a haven for creatives to collaborate, socialise and create.
We regularly put on workshops in various disciplines and mediums and events that are suitable for all levels in a supportive environment so that everyone can take part.

Coming up on the 17th Sept and 22nd Oct we have our new Untutored Life Drawing.
A chance to have a nice relaxed evening practising your life drawing and skills, facilitated by our wonderful and experienced life model.
Youll have the chance to warm up on some short drawings and then show off your skills in some long form drawings.

Important to follow the directions on the dock rather than the satnav.
Directions:
It is advisable to have your ID with you, as you might be requested to present it at the docks’ security checkpoint.
1. After the security checkpoint, go left at the roundabout.
2. Take the first left after 500m when you see Alfred Enderby’s Smokehouse
3. First right onto Fish Dock Road
4. All the way to the end - and then right
5. The Grimbarians Studio is on the right after 200m. Next to Turntable Gallery.
Park anywhere in front of these buildings on the right.
We love our wooden floors and natural light!
Obviously we have flash lighting available too, but you cant beat the window light!

During the workshop you'll learn the basics of designing, cutting and printing a one-colour print, using beginner's tools and softcut lino.
The event will be held in person on Thu July 6th 2023 at 17:30:00 at our studio located at 86 Wharncliffe Road North, Grimsby, DN31 3QJ.

We have 5 slots available, at 1 hour each to allow you time to play around with some studio lighting and work with a great model.
Dan will be around on the day incase you need any assistance or guidance with your session. Alexa will be working at levels up to lingerie on the day and will have a large selection of styling to choose from.
At the studio, we have some Profoto lighting that you are able to try out and use - but feel free to bring your own if you would prefer.
This a great and affordable opportunity to learn something new and create some strong work for your portfolio.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided as always in the studio.

So if youre swinging by sometime - dont forget to check we’re in first - dont go looking for the scaffolding as a clue.

As requested, we’re hosting a 6-part Life Drawing Course with @frannyoung.
‘Join us for a 6 part life drawing class aimed at all levels. Throughout the course we will learn a range of different methods and techniques for drawing the figure. There will be lots of experimentation with different materials to get you out of your comfort zone and hopefully learn new ways of seeing art. Through a supportive and creative environment my aim is to deliver a fun and informative class where you can unlock your inner artist!’
Starting on the 4th April and taking place fortnightly at the Grimbarians Studio, this course will be in depth and open to all levels.
