Many of you will recognise Francine because she’s worked for Grimsby Town Football Club for over 30 years!
Fran first started in the food kiosk in the Lower Findus back in 1990, but since 2008 she’s been an administrator in the ticket office. The chances are, everyone at some point has been served by Fran – either in the ticket office, club shop, over the phone or kiosk. Those who know her will testify to her can-do attitude and bubbly personality. She’s also the eternal optimist – all traits which make her a real natural at her job and an asset to the team.
Fran’s first Town game was back in 1987 and she caught the bug just in time to watch the Mariners win consecutive promotions. It’s an era she remembers fondly and the reason why her favourite player is Garry Birtles. Fran misses the first half of home games because she, like the rest of the office staff on matchdays, counts ticket stubs, but she loves watching the majority of the second half from wherever there’s a spare seat in the Lower Young’s Stand.
During the worst months of the pandemic, Francine didn’t just miss football, she also had to go without seeing her ‘football family’ (as she likes to call them) and the day-to-day interactions with supporters she loves. However, after a busy summer of season ticket sales and a bumper crowd against Weymouth last weekend, you can bet your bottom dollar that Fran will be brimming with excitement and hope for the season ahead.
