If your child has played basketball in North East Lincolnshire, chances are they’ve been coached by Jason J Munro.
Jason has played basketball for around 20 years, starting with Grimsby and Skegness Local Leagues before making his way up to National League. He’s played for Nottingham, Lincoln, Newark and Hull.
15 years ago, Jason began coaching in schools across North East Lincolnshire and has helped thousands of children to become more active and try a new sport. Now, Jason plays for the Grimsby Gators and coaches the Gators’ under 18s team, The Spartans. You can also find Jason behind the decks in Gullies…
Jason’s reason for coaching? “It has always been very simple. I just enjoy seeing people having fun whilst being active, basketball has just been my tool to achieving this.”
In recent years, Grimsby’s profile has seen a change with a wave of positivity thanks to local people's dedication and a growing faith in the area.
Grimbarians is more than a not-for-profit organisation. It is a creative movement, born to change the story line of the town and the way people identify the area.
Through documenting and showcasing the lives of local people, we aim to promote confidence in the area, increase pride and build a stronger, more positive reputation for Great Grimsby because #grimsbyreallyismore.
