Andrew Jones

Since 2006, Andrew Jones has been teaching karate to the children of Grimsby at his very own club, Kaizen No-Michi.

Andrew, who moved to Grimsby in 2006, was inspired by the movies of Bruce Lee and decided to join a karate school in his local area, where he achieved his yellow belt. Following a break, Andrew got back into the Martial Art and is now a 5th Dan Black Belt who has trained with many inspiring senseis, competing at European and World Championships.

Andrew established Kaizen No-Michi at the West Marsh Community Centre, teaching just five students. As the club grew, he moved his Dojo to Ormiston Maritime Academy and now teach in excess of over 60 members at any one time, some of whom are now competing nationally themselves.

Andrew believes greatly in the benefits of Karate; Self Respect, Self Confidence, Self Awareness, Self Discipline, Self Belief, and Self Defence.

“As well as the positive and mental attributes, it is important that our students have fun whilst training. Karate is an enjoyable activity that gets children away from television and computer games, and doing something more constructive whilst keeping fit and having fun.

“There are also many reasons why adults participate in Martial Arts training. It is a great way to get in shape and maintain a sound physical fitness regime. It’s an excellent way for you to gain the proper self-defence skills that every person should have in today’s society. The benefit of knowing how to ensure your safety in any given situation gives you a sense of control and empowerment over everything you do in your daily life.”

Kaizen No-Michi trains Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Ormiston Maritime Academy in Grimsby, and you can find out more at kaizennomichi.co.uk.
