Garry Bainbridge is a Grimbarian, businessman and race-winning sailor who has taken part in some of the most competitive yacht races across the globe.
16 years ago, Garry started his sailing career when he took part in his first race along the French Rivera coast – the Voila de St Tropez. Since then, he has gone on to win many of the world’s biggest inshore and offshore races with his teams, including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, which is often described as ‘the world’s toughest offshore racing challenge’.
When back at home, Garry runs his own business from the Port of Grimsby and is preparing for the launch of his brand new venture with a friend and business partner. ishfish.uk enables people to buy fresh Grimsby fish online, to be shipped to their door anywhere in the UK.
In recent years, Grimsby’s profile has seen a change with a wave of positivity thanks to local people's dedication and a growing faith in the area.
Grimbarians is more than a not-for-profit organisation. It is a creative movement, born to change the story line of the town and the way people identify the area.
Through documenting and showcasing the lives of local people, we aim to promote confidence in the area, increase pride and build a stronger, more positive reputation for Great Grimsby because #grimsbyreallyismore.
