Christine Plant MBE was born in Cleethorpes and has lived in Grimsby for most of her life. Over the years, she has dedicated hour and after hour to supporting and encouraging the people of the local community.
This June, Christine celebrates 47 years as a Scout Leader of the 19th Grimsby (St Hugh’s) Group. During that time she has provided fun, adventurous opportunities and experiences for hundreds of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts between the ages of six to 14. She is the Church Warden for St Hugh, based in the West Marsh of Grimsby, and ensures that Services take place and that links with the community are made. Following her retirement, Christine began volunteering for Grimsby Minster, initially making refreshments in the cafe before helping with the children of the Mother & Toddler group. Today, she still dedicates her time to the church’s Mothers’ Union.
In the year 2000, Christine Plant was awarded an Order of the British Empire – an MBE – which was presented by HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. Christine says: “I wouldn’t be the person that I am without the help and support of other people, and I’d like to thank those people.”
